Until recently Kerry Hill sheep could only be found in their native Wales. USDA regulations prevented the importation of this thrifty little sheep from the UK to the USA. But germ plasm could make the trip...and it did in a liquid nitrogen shipping container. Now they are being 'bred-up' and soon flocks of Kerry Hill sheep will be springing up everywhere.
Hoping for some ewe lambs. Have you ever considered adding CVM Romeldales to your genetics? They are the rarest American breed. They have a lovely fleece. Color patterns can be similar to Kerry Hills, but not nearly as cute.
ReplyDeleteStill no ewe lambs. What are the odds of an all-boy lambing season?
ReplyDeleteNo to the other genetics. The plan is to get the genetics to over 90% KH, so it shouldn't matter the othe genetics added. I'm sticking with Cheviot as they are morphologically the most simlar to Kerry's of the breeds in the US.
